News 2014/10/10 Strong synergies between the EU Environmental projects

Stronger synergies between projects were discussed at the 3rd Regional Steering Committee meeting of the EU-funded, ENPI-East Environmental Protections of International River Basins (EPIRB) project, in Minsk, Belarus, 7 October 2014. The main areas of activity of EPIRB relate to increased capacity for EU Water Framework Directive (WFD) compliant monitoring, and the development of River Basin Management Plans (RBMPs), for pilot basins, fully compliant to WFD methodologies. An area of particular mutual interest is the development of the EPIRB GIS system/database - now consistent to the “Danube GIS” system based on the International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River’s data requirements, data templates - and how such data can be shared and made available to the public.
